[Astronomy Tower] [Anyone] [Thursday Afternoon]
"Alright, my loves, it's a wrap. Be sure to look over your notes tonight, tomorrow's exam will not be postponed." A unison of groans caused her to smile faintly. "None of that! It'll be a piece of cake, piece of pie...if you do the proper studying. And like always, you're all welcome to come in during my office hours if there's anything you'd like to go over. Good day, all of you!"
Once all of the students exited, she went around straightening up the place, fluffing out sitting pillows, moving telescopes and other astronomical devices back in their proper areas. The arched ceiling above her was charmed in the illusion of the night sky, though she kept it that way for now. Aurora then glanced around the tower for one last inspection. Satisfied with the cleansiness, she walked over to her desk and sat, pulling off her cloak and draping it over her chair.
Shiftig her black rimmed eye glasses (she had ruined her contacts) up the bridge of her nose, Aurora grabbed a stack of assignments and placed him in front of her. "Hmmm..." the woman hummed, pulling out a quill from its red ink bottle. "Better get started before I'll want to do something else." A quiet chuckled tumbled off her lips and she began reading carefully, making corrections, a skill undoubtly perfected over the years. |

[Aurora's House] [Anyone; ATTN: Roger] [Noonish]
Aurora was just about done packing things up to be transferred over into the Astronomy Tower. The school year hadn't started just yet, but it was very close, and she figured she'd get a head start so she wouldn't have to worry about anything at the last minute. "There's that," she murmured, tucking the remaining books into a trunk. Dusting off her hands, she glanced around and chuckled upon seeing Pyxis cuddled up, quite comfortably, with a newer book on the bed.
"So that's where it went. Pyxis, you silly creature..." It was a struggle to pull it away from the large, grumpy feline, but she managed. She held it up for any damages - it was that new Astronomy text she had promised Roger - and thankfully, it was unharmed. She grabbed a piece of parchment and pen and jotted down a quick note and sent it off with her owl before falling back on her bed and curling up with her pet.

[Ministry] [Anyone, ATTN: Kingsley] [Noon]
*walks in with a bag* Good afternoon! *smiles* I'm Aurora Sinistra, I'm here to see Kingsley.
*Auror dude* Ah, he's around here somewhere...don't think he's in his office though. Wanna leave a message or something? *eyes bag*
Um... *chuckles, casually hides bag behind her back* No, I'll just wait in his office if that's alright. I wanted to surprise him with lunch.
Sure thing. *points down the hall* His office is right down there. Make yourself comfortable.
Thank you! *grins, goes to his office* Hmmm...oooh! *plops into the big boss chair, pulls out a super stuffed sandwich and a slice of pie from the bag*
*waits patiently*
...
*shifty eyes*
*grabs fork, sneaks in a bite of pie*
*aaand another*
*...okay one more, she's done, puts it away, leans back like nothing happened* |

[Park] [Anyone] [Noon]
So, after much deliberation, Aurora decided against adoption. As frustrating as Kingsley had been about it, he was kind of sort of a little teeny tiny pinch of an ounce right in that she did have plenty of time to be a mother. A lot of things had definitely triggered this sudden eagerness for a child, but in the back of her mind she knew her chance for motherhood would come at a more appropriate date. Still, she was pretty certain that she could handle being a single mum right now...but she rather valued his opinion (even if it wasn't what she wanted to hear), and let it become one of the deciding factors.
For now, though, she had her students to look forward to. Term was almost here and she couldn't wait to see the ones returning, and of course, the newcomers. Smiling at the thought, Aurora sat on the bench and scanned through the curriculum for the new school year. It'd been finished for quite some time, but it didn't hurt to look it over and perfect it. "Which reminds me, I've got to see if they've got that new text in stock yet," the woman mused, running the feathery tip of her quill along her chin thoughtfully. |

[Home] [Anyone] [Wednesday Afternoon]
*stacks boxes against the wall* I...think that's the last of it. *looks around, a little shocked at how bare the place looks now* Er ...This is normal. Isn't it? *yes, she is talking to herself* I'm starting over and Shackles is right - I have to take away the things that make me more sad than happy. But... *side-glance at the boxes, tempted to put everything back* I don't know if I can do this.
*eyes start to well up* Get it together, Aurora. *deeeep breath* You need to do this. You've spent weeks getting everything packed up, it's too late to cave in now. *holds up her wedding picture, smiles, kisses it before setting it down* Okay. *confident nod* A break is in order, methinks. *grabs the Prophet, curls up on the couch. Let's see what's going on...
*several minutes later* WHAT?! Oh bloody hell Chambers! *buries face in couch pillow* ...I'm not chunky! |

[Park in Wizarding London] [Anyone] [Early Afternoon]
Aurora sat down one travel book and picked up another. "Hmmm..." she hummed, circling any vacation spots that caught her eye. "Oh, this is nice, maybe he'd like to go the--bah, not close enough. Forgot." Chuckling to herself, she scratched out the mark and turned the page. She had convinced Kingsley to come with her, and in return she was going to choose a place where his work was accesible. Not at all did she mind, it just meant she had to really narrow down her options. "Alright. I think I've got it." Smiling, she summoned her Grizzly Bear patronus and opted to leave Kingsley a message. Once the patronus was sent out, she leaned back against the bench and continued reading.

[Diagon Alley] [Anyone] [Noon]
*takes her iced coffee* Thank you so much! *grins* I've been craving one of these for ages, now.
*Maker chuckles* Aye, well, you've come to the right place!
Sure did! Bye now! *waves him off and steps out to the streets*
*as she's walking, Aurora takes a long sip* Mm, he's right, this is delic-- *abruptly stops* ... *pops the top off the cup and sees that he's put milk and chocolate into it...completely wrong order*
Oh no. *pales, rubs throat, she can already feel the allergic reaction kicking in* Shit. *immediately tosses the drink, searches through her bag* And of course the one time I clean my bag, I forget to put them back in.
*chest tightens, she starts to do a little bit of wheezing* Okay... *hurries down the street, trying to get to the first medical shop she can find* |

| Girl's Night Out. |
[May. 7th, 2009|04:21 pm] |
[The Endymion] [Anyone] [Thursday Evening]
"There are so many young people out! I feel like a cougar!" Aurora cried to the group of women she was with.
"You are tonight, love!" Howling with laughter, one of them slid a pretty drink in her direction. "Stop complaining! You're hot as hell, Seti was right in gettin' you into that dress! Now have a drink."
Aurora rolled her eyes in defeat and brought the martini glass up to her lips and leaned against the counter. "Yeah, well...the second I see a student, I'm taking off. None of them needs to see me dressed like this."
"Puh-lease! Half of 'em wish you'd dress like that!"
"Oh, quiet you!" Aurora poked her in the side. She had no idea why she allowed them to drag her out to the club tonight, or what on earth she was thinking when she slipped on that dress. But all she knew was that she was going to remain in the posh room and hope that she'd go by unnoticed. But with this group of crazy females she was with...she had a whole lot of doubt. |

| Memories. |
[Apr. 12th, 2009|11:12 pm] |
[Aurora's Home] [Anyone] [Easter Evening]
She made Lemon-Baked chicken with steamed rice, vegetables, and fresh french rolls. And for dessert...a simple yet elegant vanilla cake, with soymilk in replace for the norm. With her hands on her hips, she stood in the kitchen and admired her work--it wasn't bad considering she couldn't remember the last time she prepared an actual meal in her house, it'd been that long.
Earlier that day, she sent off the small gifts and Easter treats for her three nieces who were probably on some island having the time of their lives. Aurora smiled at the thought. "Probably out tanning away that winter paleness," she mused, migrating into the living room.
Stepping back into this home was always weird for her. Nothing was ever different, she kept everything the exact same, like it was some sort of museum and changing things like the wall decoration or the positions of the furniture would ruin its preservation. It was just that, she feared that if she moved anything around, she'd ruin the memory of him.
With her arms wrapped tightly around her waist, Aurora took in a nervous breath and crossed over to the hall that lead to the bedrooms. Throat tightening, she approached the door directly across from the master bedroom and pressed her forehead against the cool surface. Sometimes she wondered why she did this to herself every time she came here. Her heart heavied the instant she turned that knob and pushed open that door, and it was suddenly like all the oxygen had been sucked out.

| Spring Break. |
[Apr. 3rd, 2009|10:14 am] |
[Ministry] [Anyone] [Early early morning]
Spring Break had come at last. Last night's class was more of a small celebration, certainly a good way to begin the vacation. But while her students were probably all sprawled out in their beds fast asleep with no intention of waking up until noon, Aurora had hopped out of bed the minute the sun peeked from the horizon. Before she even thought about relaxing, she was going get all the important stuff done first--and she was going to start with renewing her registry information. It was a standard procedure that all registered animagi had to deal with every few years, but Merlin did she hate to do it. The paperwork alone took nearly an hour, and don't even get her started on the physical evaluation!
Walking into the Ministry building, Aurora was greeted warmly by the receptionist. "Good morning, dear. Here for your appointment, I reckon? Just sign in here, please, have a seat, and someone will be with you in a moment. Oh! But before you do, have a muffin." Grinning, she pushed forth a pastry basket filled with a variety of warm muffins. Aurora smiled politely and leaned in closely. Banana nut muffins, chocolate muffins, pumpkin with almond muffins...none of them she could eat--well, she could, but she'd probably die...or at least break into a nasty rash. "I'm sorry. I'm allergic to the batch. But thank you for the offer!" Signing the sheet, she went and sat down. Five minutes later, she was called in and they began almost immediately, but unfortunately she didn't get dismissed as quickly as she was welcomed in.
Nearly two hours later, she stepped out of the office with a handful of pamphlets, though she was pretty sure she'd received the exact same ones the last time she was there. Still, for the sake of reading, she strode down the hall with leisure, looking through each one to pass a little bit of time before she headed out to start on her other errands. |

[Pet store in Diagon Alley] [Anyone] [Late Afternoon]
"Don't grumble at me, Pyxis. Do you honestly enjoy being overweight and unable to breathe?" Aurora rose an inquiring eyebrow at the spotted Kneazle waddling beside her, who started off glaring before lowering his head in defeat--or maybe it was shame. "Mmhm, see? I'll just have to monitor your entire eating habits even more closely. You can't eat what everyone throws at you, and forest mice are not at all healthy. Fatty little things, Pyxis. And pygmy puffs! I found your stash. Shame on you." After scolding him, she softened her expression and kneeled down to pick him up and cuddle him affectionately. "It'll be okay. We'll just switch around your diet a bit and get you walking a bit more. You'll be much better before you know it!" Kissing the top of his head, Aurora made a small swooping gesture, beckoning him to follow her into the pet store. He didn't look as thrilled as she did. |

| Sunday. |
[Mar. 8th, 2009|05:20 pm] |
[A park in Hogsmeade] [Anyone] [Mid-Afternoon]
It'd been a while since she'd actually gone out and spent some time away from the school. But with terms coming up, she'd devoted herself to her students, offering help to those who needed or wanted it by setting up weekend classes and morning and night study group sessions. So far it'd been a success and they'd all seemed to greatly appreciate it. But it was Sunday and a lovely day at that, so she decided to briefly pull away from the school scene and venture off into Hogsmeade. Aurora would take this opportunity to run a few errands.
After making her last stop, she grabbed a bite to eat and then went to the park. Inhaling a refreshing breath, the woman smiled and explored the grounds before settling herself down underneath a slightly tilted tree. Leaning against the trunk, she pulled out a newly purchased book from her bag, opened it and took a whiff of the fresh pages. Merlin, she loved that smell. Wiggling around until she was more comfortable, Aurora sighed softly and began reading the first page. |
